Taking place from 19–23 August 2026 in Shanghai, the 28th edition of Pet Fair Asia will welcome more than 2,600 exhibitors, including international companies and Chinese representatives of global brands from 32 countries, making it the show's most international edition to date.

International participation continues to grow rapidly, with overseas exhibitors accounting for around 20% of the total and online visitor registrations already surpassing previous records. Free online registration remains available until 31 July, after which an entrance fee of RMB 200 (approximately USD 30) will apply.

The co-located Pet Fair Supply exhibition has also expanded significantly, adding two additional halls to reach 70,000 sqm of exhibition space. More than 900 exhibitors will represent every stage of the pet industry supply chain, from ingredients and manufacturing equipment to packaging, OEM services and smart factory technologies.

From Trade Fair to Global Industry Platform

While Pet Fair Asia has long been recognised as China's leading pet industry exhibition, its international influence has grown steadily over recent years. Today, it serves as one of the most important sourcing and networking platforms for importers, distributors, retailers and brand owners looking to access China's rapidly expanding pet market as well as opportunities across Asia.

One of the most significant additions is the launch of the VIP B2B Day, an invitation only opening day designed to create a more focused business environment. Selected Chinese importers, distributors, wholesalers, media representatives and industry influencers will participate in dedicated networking activities, while international visitors will continue to enjoy full access throughout the trade days.

Sustainability will also take centre stage through the debut of EcoPaws Asia, developed in partnership with the Pet Sustainability Coalition (PSC). The initiative will feature sustainability certified exhibitors, a dedicated showcase area and targeted business matchmaking designed to connect buyers with suppliers committed to responsible business practices.

Innovation remains another major focus for this year's event. The World Premier Selection will once again provide a platform for breakthrough products making their exclusive global debut at Pet Fair Asia. The programme highlights products demonstrating exceptional technological advancement, design excellence or industry leadership.

Visitors will also find dedicated halls and themed zones showcasing some of the industry's fastest growing sectors, including Human-Pet Ideal Home, focusing on co-living solutions, Pet Fashion Week, Cat's Wonderland, the Genius Hub for smart technologies, and the Start-up Zone supporting emerging companies.

Dedicated Hall Reflects Rapid Growth of Small and Exotic Pets

China's market for small companion animals, reptiles and aquatic pets continues to expand rapidly. According to the Asia Pet Alliance (apa) Institute, the segment has now reached a market value of approximately RMB 11 billion (USD 1.61 billion).

Responding to this growing demand, Pet Fair Asia 2026 will dedicate an entire exhibition hall to these categories. More than 350 brands will showcase products ranging from food, supplements and veterinary medicines to habitats, accessories and care products for birds, rabbits, hamsters, reptiles, ornamental fish and other companion animals.

Beyond serving as a product showcase, the dedicated hall is designed to become a comprehensive sourcing platform where international buyers can discover innovative products, establish new supplier relationships and explore one of the pet industry's fastest growing niche markets.

Industry Leaders Gather for Extensive Conference Programme

The 15th International Pet Industry Summit, Asian CEO Summit will be held under the theme "Building a Caring, Vibrant and Sustainable Human-Pet Ecosystem." More than 25 speakers and 700 delegates are expected to attend, with confirmed participants including senior executives and experts from Bain & Company, Mars, Boehringer Ingelheim, the Pet Sustainability Coalition, the USDA Shanghai Office, and the General Consulates of Canada, the United Kingdom and New Zealand in Shanghai.

Supply chain development will be the focus of the Pet Fair Supply Conference, where industry leaders will discuss manufacturing transformation and supply chain upgrading. Running alongside the conference, the Pet Fair Supply Brand Supplier Matchmaking Meeting will provide direct business matching opportunities between manufacturers and leading brands.

Nutrition and health will be addressed at the Asia Pet Health and Food Summit, an expanded version of the former Asia Pet Food Summit. Bringing together more than 350 participants and over 20 speakers, the event will examine precision nutrition, manufacturing innovation, consumer trends and future brand strategies shaping the global pet food industry.

Meanwhile, the Go Global Forum, returning after its successful debut in 2025, will explore opportunities created by the rapidly evolving global pet economy. Under the theme "Think Global, Win Local," industry experts will discuss international expansion strategies, changing consumer markets, premiumisation and business development across both mature and emerging markets.

A Record Edition Reflecting an Industry in Transformation

With record exhibition space, growing international participation, expanded supply chain representation and an increasingly comprehensive programme of conferences and specialised features, Pet Fair Asia 2026 reflects the continued evolution of both China's pet economy and the global pet industry.

From sustainability and smart technologies to precision nutrition, international sourcing and emerging pet categories, this year's exhibition demonstrates how Pet Fair Asia has grown beyond a traditional trade fair to become one of the industry's most influential platforms for innovation, knowledge exchange and global business development.
